Chapter History

Stanford GSB-affiliated alumni have been active in Hong Kong since the 1977 founding of the Stanford Club of Hong Kong for the overall university alumni community.  At the time, there were less than 10 total Stanford Graduate School of Business alumni in the city.  Subsequently, a separate Stanford GSB Chapter was established for the specific needs of the GSB alumni community.

In more recent years, following a period of inactivity, formal re-launch of the HK Chapter was discussed and agreed to at a November 2010 dinner at Cipriani's, hosted by four of the Co-Founding Members, gathering a representative cross-section of 20 GSB-affiliated alumni.  Subsequent efforts to fully re-establish the HK Chapter as an integral part of its Hong Kong and Greater Pearl River Delta home successfully cumulated in an active calendar of events being re-initiated by the following Summer 2011.

Today, more than a third of a century later since the original Stanford Club of Hong Kong’s founding, with more than 450 Stanford GSB and Stanford Law School affiliated alumni in the Greater Pearl River Delta alone, and almost 1,100 Stanford University affiliated alumni overall, the HK Chapter is an important part of the Asia-based Stanford GSB alumni community (with 15 chapters in 12 countries/regions) as well as of the broader regional Stanford University alumni communities.
