Event Details:
Stanford alumni are invited to the MIT Enterprise Forum "Distinguished Entrepreneur Series" featuring Dr Victor K. Fung, Group Chairman of Li & Fung Group of Companies. Dr Fung will share his view on the follow issues:
  • Digital technology enabled the globalization of production by allowing supply chains to be atomized and dispersed into pieces of best-in-class production. It also enabled just-in-time logistics - crucial to reassembling the pieces into seamless global supply chains
  • Now, digital technology is enabling the globalization of consumption and, along with it, mass customization
  • Over the next 30 years, billions of new middle-class consumers will enter the global economy, equipped with smartphones and other powerful tools for communicating personal preferences and making individual voices heard
  • From the retail-customer interface, to the far end of the supply chain, the implications are huge
  • As entrepreneurs, are we ready to meet the challenges and reap the benefits of this next phase in digital commerce?
  • Are governments and institutions of global governance up to the task of watching over and facilitating changing flows of trade and investment as these new trends take root?
